Tigereye is a form
of quartz with rich yellow and brown stripes, and a natural lacquered
finish, resembling the eye of a cat. Soldiers
of the Roman Empire wore it for protection in battle and ancient mystics
believed it to be all-seeing. Though for centuries it was mined for its
alleged magical powers, tigereye made its gemstone debut in the 1800s, when it was considered very valuable, fetching several dollars
per carat – an expensive price at the time. Since its introduction as

This
is a stone of many stones. Unakite is granite gemstone with a mix of
other elements including red and pink feldspar, white and gray quartz,
and epidote, a pistachio-colored gemstone. Named for the Unaka Mountains
in the southeastern US where it was first discovered, Unakite is the
balancing stone. It is said to bring a sense of calm and equilibrium,
unifying the emotional, mental and spiritual aspects of existence.
Unakite also is believed to help us to live in the present, not dwell on
